My phone line was so extraneously noisey that it was nearly unuseable. I didn't know whether the problem was within our house or was the phone companies responsibility and didn't know how to find out. The phone co was of no help and wouldn't be able to get anyone out for several days. Miller returned my call, listened to me detail the problem, ventured the opinion that it likely a result of recent rain. He advised me that if I found and unplugged a jack at the box on the outside of my house where the phone lines enter, and then use a phone plugged in there, the phone co could then tell if the problem was theirs or mine. I did so. The cause was external to my house and therefore the phone co's responsibility. The next morning, without anyone doing anything more, our phone lines were clear (though this will likely happen again next time it rains. Phone co. tells me to phone them right away next time). Miller was unusually helpful and professional even though he didn't earn a dime.
