My door opener died. I contacted Global about a replacement unit. When the technician arrived he diagnosed my opener problem and indicated it could be repaired for $100 parts and labor versus selling me a new unit at $325. He told me how the gears generally fail after five years of use (mine had been in use 5 and 1/2 years), and the replacement gears would last another five years and the same gears have been used by the manufacturer in all it's openers for over 25 years. I really appreciated his honesty in telling me why I didn't need a replacement unit (which, by the way, he had in his truck).
