Clark is the Potato Capital of South Dakota. Clark is home to the world famous Mashed Potato Wrestling contest.

Jack McCall was tried, convicted and hanged two miles north of Yankton, South Dakota in 1877 for the shooting of Wild Bill Hickok. He is buried in an unmarked grave in the Yankton cemetery.
